Semenya and Sewlall return to Tropika Island of Treasure

Caster Semenya and Ashay Sewlall won a second-chance challenge on Tropika Island of Treasure, which ended the run of two other teams.

The latest episode of Tropika Island of Treasure brought a major shake-up, with Caster Semenya and Ashay Sewlall winning their way back into the contest. According to IOL, their return came at the expense of two other teams, including those led by Sandile Mahlangu and Nadia Nakai.

A second chance through the Tropika Reruns

Teams that had already been knocked out, Team Orange and Team Pineapple, were handed another opportunity in a challenge called Tropika Reruns. Contestants had to carry 15 cans of Tropika along the sand with the help of an oar, a task that put their speed, balance and strategy to the test.

Semenya won in the celebrity category, while Sewlall took the Smoooth Fan win. Together they formed a new Team Orange and were back in the race.

Who went home

Their comeback meant the end for two teams. Sandile Mahlangu and Jodell Tantij, who competed as Team Mango Peach, were eliminated. So were Nadia Nakai and Andile Khuluse of Team Green Apple.

Memory Divers and a useful advantage

The episode then moved on to the Memory Divers challenge. Teams had to remember symbols they saw underwater and then rebuild the pattern on a puzzle board.

Team Blueberry Cheesecake finished first, with Team Tropical in second place and Team Peach in third. The reformed Team Orange came last, but it did find the Smoooth Charm. That gives Semenya and Sewlall a valuable edge going into the next Mystery Box Challenge.

When to watch

For viewers who want to keep up, Tropika Island of Treasure airs on SABC 1 on Wednesdays at 9pm. A repeat is shown on Thursdays at 6pm.
