Job Description

The successful candidate will undergo training and development to become a Wool Technician and will be responsible for assisting with the planning and coordination of daily activities within the Binning and Resort Departments.

The role includes the evaluation and application of wool typing standards, classification of wool, planning of wool pressing activities, management of labour and resources, and ensuring that operational activities are performed efficiently and in accordance with the required quality standards.

The position plays an important role in supporting the profitability and operational effectiveness of the Wool & Mohair Division.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
  • Diploma in Agriculture or related field
  • Minimum of 2- 3 years’ relevant experience in wool handling and a production environment.
  • Sound practical knowledge and experience in wool handling and processing.
  • Experience in a supervisory or team-leading capacity will be advantageous.
  • Experience as a Spring Bok Head will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of wool typing and classification standards will be advantageous.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Plan daily activities in the Binning and Resort Departments.
  • Classify wool according to approved typing standards.
  • Plan wool pressing according to volumes and profitability.
  • Manage labour according to operational requirements.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and operational.
  • Train and guide new employees and sorters.
  • Ensure bales are tested through Objective Measurement within required deadlines.
  • Manage Resort administration and clip balancing.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with company procedures.
  • Assist with warehouse tours and visitor requirements.
