SMALL PLANT OPERATOR

Basic Salary

R148 770.69 / R187 773.12 pa

Grade: 04

Job Purpose:

To maintain, operate and care for a variety of machinery and equipment and perform various tasks and duties in compliance with applicable policies and procedures to deliver effective maintenance services to public facilities and open places within the eThekwini Municipal Area.

Key Responsibility Areas:

•Preparing for the days work ensuring that all machines, tools, stores and materials are collected and are in good working order.

•Maintaining public land, facilities and infrastructure.

•Maintaining allocated small plant and equipment in a clean and functional condition.

•Ensuring Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations are complied with.

•Assisting members of the general public.

•Undertaking related assignments e.g. Acting in the capacity of surrounding posts.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

•An appropriate level of primary education.

•Certificate of competence in the operation of small plant and equipment or obtainable within 6 months of appointment.

•6 Months relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements:

•An appropriate level of secondary education.

•1 Year relevant experience

Special Conditions:

1. May be required to work overtime. 2. May be required to work in all weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically fit and healthy to perform all manual and physical requirements of the post.
