Successful completion of the Correctional
Learnership/Basic Training

Aspects of Competence and Personality:

Interpersonal skills related to dealing with requests made by offenders and dealing with offenders who are difficult to manipulate.
Counseling is necessary for individuals who are suicidal or agitated.
First aid and firefighting are both fatalities.
Having a deep affection for canines.
Skills such as listening, communication, tact, problem solving, and analysis are of great importance.

This position is responsible for the control of access control and the patrolling of the prison grounds. preventing the entry or removal of items that are not authorized.
Preventing unauthorised contact with those who have committed crimes.
The implementation of emergency measures, which are dependent on the circumstances, in order to prevent escapes, assaults, and injuries.
The prevention of thefts committed against government property.

The monitoring of sections, which includes general accommodation areas, kitchens, and work sections within the facility.
Conducting patrols of sections during day and night shifts in order to prevent unauthorized items from being smuggled in and escapes from the facility.
The protection of criminals who are present in workplaces.
Ensure that offenders are protected while they are at work.
Take measures to prevent criminals from evading capture by the work teams.
Offenders are searched, tracks are identified, and dogs are assigned to specific tracks.

Activation of emergency measures to prevent escapes, assaults, and injuries to individuals from occurring.
The provision of additional training for dogs that are used for service.
Ensuring the safety of those who are providing assistance as well as other individuals who are in close proximity to the training location.
Ensure that the evaluation of dogs is carried out using a hands-on approach.

Ensure that service dogs receive proper physical care.
Dogs that are injured or sick are specifically identified.
Check to see that injured dogs receive treatment as soon as possible.
Dogs that are injured or sick should be transported to a veterinarian for treatment.
Make sure that sick dogs and new dogs are kept on their own.

Make sure that the dogs are fed in accordance with the rations that have been prescribed for them.
Make sure that each dog has access to clean water on a consistent basis and in sufficient quantities.
It is imperative that each and every kennel be cleaned on a daily basis.
