Job Requirements

Three-year National Diploma in Accounting Science, coupled with two years of relevant experience, as well as a Driver’s license. A bachelor`s Degree and the ability to use a computer will be an added advantage.

Duties

  • Ensuring that the Asset Disposal Policy is effective with changes to align with the operational requirements of UNIVEN. The Asset Disposal policy is reviewed once biannually with the assistance of the Asset Disposal Committee.
  • Timely recording of the delivery of assets to the asset register, reflecting bar coding, delivery/invoice date, asset condition, description of asset, cost, depreciation, book value, and impairment.
  • Ensuring that year-end impairment tests are reflected on the asset register and passing relevant journal entries.
  • Disposal of assets is removed from the asset register and passing relevant journal entries.
  • Lost/stolen assets are removed from the asset register, depreciation accumulated is reversed, and relevant journal entries are passed.
  • Ensure all assets are safely lockable in storage areas.
  • Monthly journals are passed through for depreciation and disposal of assets.
  • Monitor monthly that assets are allocated per appropriate class (major, minor, description of assets) on the GL and reflected accurately on the Asset Register. Any correction of misallocation is to be journalized.
  • Ensure that the risk register reflects assets that are easily identifiable for theft.
  • Manage and maintain the transitional risk register, sharing of assets, and responsibilities in conjunction with the Protection Services Department.
  • Aligning emergent risks to reflect the changes in the operational environment due to the expansion of personnel, infrastructure, etc.
  • Devise methods to mitigate such risks through insurance, or UNIVEN absorbs risks by ensuring effective control/mechanisms are in place.
