Usimamane confirms 20 November release for second album Tai Lung
Umlazi rapper Usimamane has announced that his second album, Tai Lung, will be released on 20 November 2026, with several collaborators expected.
Umlazi rapper Usimamane has named the day his second album will come out. Tai Lung is due on 20 November 2026, according to SA Hip Hop Mag.
He shared the news in a short Instagram post on 4 November. Alongside black-and-white cover art, he wrote: “Tai lung, 20 November 2026.”
The artwork and the idea behind the album
The cover is a close-up portrait of the rapper with his eyes shut and his teeth clenched. His dreadlocks frame the image, there is leopard-print detailing on his neck and shoulders, and faint overlapping images of his face sit behind the main portrait. SA Hip Hop Mag described the look as one of anger, tension and inner conflict.
The title comes from Tai Lung, the snow leopard warrior in the Kung Fu Panda films. The album is expected to deal with personal themes such as betrayal, loss, pressure and change. Usimamane has previously described the character as someone who is “angry and has lost people close to him”.
How the project got here
The idea first surfaced on his EP G-Wagon Music: Baby Tai, released in January 2026. It opened with a track called “Tai Lung’s Pain” and reached the top of the Apple Music charts in South Africa.
The outlet reports that he has reportedly dropped several earlier versions of the album while looking for a sound that suits him. He has also said he wants to build his name at home instead of aiming for an international identity. “I just wanted to be South African,” he said in an earlier comment.
He has also spoken about how heavy the process has been. “There’s no project that made me cry more than this one,” he wrote, adding the hashtag #tailung. His first album, 20th: Days Before Maud, came out in 2024.
Expected collaborators
The tracklist has not been published in full. According to the report, American R&B singer Jacquees is reportedly on a song titled “My Baby”. Emtee, Blxckie and Tony Dayimane are among the South African names expected to feature.
