Gigi Lamayne announces Karapau single with Earle Fari
Rapper Gigi Lamayne has confirmed Karapau, a new collaboration with Free State artist Earle Fari, which is due out on 27 November 2026.
Gigi Lamayne has revealed her next release: a single called Karapau, recorded with Free State rapper Earle Fari. According to SA Hip Hop Mag, the song is due on 27 November 2026, and fans can already pre-order it through the link in her Instagram bio.
Gigi made the announcement on Instagram together with the official cover art for the track.
The artwork and the title
The cover is an illustration set against a bright yellow background, showing the two artists in a playful, street-style scene. Gigi sits on a crate, wearing a black tracksuit and showing off her braids with a cheeky pose. Earle Fari stands beside her in a camouflage bucket hat and green cargo clothing, holding a fishing rod with a fish dangling from it. A boombox, some cans of paint and water fill out the picture.
The fishing theme links to the song’s name. Karapau is a variant spelling of carapau, a fish from the horse mackerel family that is known in Portuguese and Brazilian usage. VMB produced the song, and it is marked as containing explicit material.
Two artists at different stages
The release comes as Gigi continues to show range. She is an award-winning rapper who built her name on lyric-driven hip-hop, and she has since tried 3-step and Afro house and moved into DJ culture as well. SA Hip Hop Mag notes that this willingness to experiment has helped her grow her sound without losing her identity.
Earle Fari, by comparison, is still building his profile in the hip-hop scene. He brings a Free State influence and a growing catalogue to the track, and he is known for his Slondon projects. The publication describes the pairing as a meeting of an established name and an emerging voice.
