Job Description
Position: CCTV Controller
Fidelity Security Group (Pty) Ltd is looking for a vigilant, professional and service-oriented CCTV Controller to join our team.
Purpose of the Position:
The CCTV Controller is responsible for protecting company sites, personnel, assets, resources, and operations through the effective monitoring of CCTV, surveillance, and electronic security systems.
The incumbent will actively monitor live camera feeds and surveillance platforms, identify and respond to security incidents, suspicious activities and operational risks, coordinate appropriate responses, preserve and gather evidence, and ensure incidents and emergencies are managed in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The role requires a highly vigilant, professional, and service-oriented individual capable of maintaining concentration for extended periods while operating within a fast-paced control room environment. The CCTV Controller must also possess a strong understanding of CCTV technology, camera health monitoring, and technical fault identification.
Minimum Requirements Qualifications
• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
• PSIRA Grade A/B Registration.
• Valid CCTV and Control Room Certification.
• First Aid and Fire Fighting training.
Experience:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Control Room or CCTV Monitoring environment.
• Experience in incident management and security operations.
Technical Skills:
Experience with the following will be advantageous:
• Hikvision CCTV Systems.
• Hikvision NVR/DVR Systems.
• IP Cameras.
• CCTV Monitoring Software.
• CCTV Footage Playback and Retrieval.
• Video Analytics Platforms.
• AI Surveillance Technology.
• Alarm Monitoring Systems.
• Microsoft Office Suite.

Key Responsibilities (Not totally inclusive):
CCTV & Surveillance Monitoring:
• Monitor CCTV and electronic security systems continuously.
• Monitor perimeter protection systems and identify unauthorized access.
• Observe and detect suspicious behavior, criminal activity, and safety violations.
• Monitor operational and production processes and identify deviations or abnormalities.
• Monitor high-risk areas, entrances, exits, parking areas, perimeters, and critical infrastructure.
• Conduct enhanced monitoring during incidents, events or elevated threat conditions.
• Track persons, vehicles or areas of interest where required.
• Maintain high levels of vigilance throughout the shift.
CCTV Systems Operation:
• Operate Hikvision CCTV management systems.
• Operate fixed PTZ cameras.
• Conduct CCTV playback and footage investigations.
• Retrieve footage for investigations and evidential purposes.
• Monitor system alerts and surveillance notifications.
• Verify that cameras are online and recording correctly.
• Monitor camera health across all assigned sites.
Incident Management:
• Detect incidents and security events as they occur.
• Gather and communicate accurate incident information.
• Coordinate and brief response personnel.
• Communicate incidents to internal and external stakeholders.
• Continue monitoring incidents until resolved.
• Escalate serious or high-risk incidents immediately.
• Ensure evidence is preserved in accordance with evidential integrity requirements.
• Respond to alarms in accordance with established SOPs.
Technical Fault Identification & Reporting:
Identify, report and escalate:
• Offline cameras.
• No video feed.
• Poor image quality.
• Frozen cameras.
• Camera obstructions.
• Camera positioning issues.
• Record failures.
• Network connectivity failures.
• Hardware faults.
• System integration failures.
• CCTV platform communication failures.
Provide detailed fault information to technical support teams and maintain records of reported faults.
Reporting & Administration:
• Maintain the Occurrence Book.
• Complete incident logs accurately.
• Produce daily operational reports.
• Record all incidents factually and objectively.
• Maintain tracking of outstanding camera faults.
• Ensure effective shift handovers.
• Assist with operational intelligence, audits, and investigations.
• Support management reporting requirements.
