Khanye and Tso Give Different Calls for Soweto Derby
Two iDiski TV analysts disagree on today's Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium, with Junior Khanye tipping a draw and Benedict 'Tso' Vilakazi backing Orlando Pirates.
Orlando Pirates host Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium today in the Betway Premiership, and two analysts on iDiski TV see the game very differently, according to iDiski Times.
Where the sides stand
Neither team has lost a league match this season. Pirates are second on the log with 22 points from eight games, one behind Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played an extra match.
Chiefs sit fifth on 14 points after the same number of fixtures. Their last league victory was a 3-2 win over Siwelele FC at the start of September. Both Soweto clubs did well in last week’s opening round of the Carling Knockout Cup, winning 3-0 against Milford FC and TS Galaxy respectively.
Khanye expects a draw
Junior Khanye, a former Chiefs player, predicts a 1-1 draw. He believes the defending champions often lose focus in derby matches and that Chiefs will find a goal from a set-piece rather than in open play.
“The score will be 1-1,” he said on iDiski TV, adding that Pirates will push forward and play an open game. He expects Chiefs to be physical and to slow the match down, and he anticipates plenty of yellow cards for Amakhosi.
Khanye also suggested Chiefs could line up with five defenders, with one wing-back dropping back and the other pushing forward. He does not think they will create many chances, but he named Evidence Makgopa as the player he expects to score.
In his view Pirates will carve out many chances but struggle to finish, because they tend to attack through the middle. He thinks that could push them wide, where the contest becomes less predictable.
Tso backs Pirates
Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi sees no way Chiefs can win. He picked a 2-1 result and said he wanted everyone to enjoy the game.
According to Tso, that scoreline holds if both teams play as they did in their cup matches during the week. He also said that if Chiefs come forward and take the game to Pirates, the result will still be 2-1 in favour of the hosts.
