Full job description
The Grain and Oilseeds Marketer is responsible for sourcing physical grain and oilseed volumes from producers within an allocated region. The role focuses on building long-term producer relationships, structuring appropriate marketing solutions, and growing sustainable origination volumes while managing price and execution risk.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Economics, Finance, or Marketing
- Proven experience in grain and/or oilseeds origination, procurement, or grain marketing
- Strong understanding of South African grain markets, pricing mechanisms, and contract types
- Ability to interpret market information and translate it into practical producer advice
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively within the region
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Originate grain and oilseed volumes (maize, wheat, soybeans, sunflower, sorghum, etc.) from producers within the assigned area
- Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial and developing farmers
- Advise producers on appropriate grain marketing and pricing strategies
- Negotiate and conclude physical contracts in line with company risk policies
- Coordinate logistics, delivery locations, and contract execution with internal teams
- Monitor market movements and provide regular market intelligence to producers
- Grow market share and origination volumes in line with regional targets
- Ensure accurate contract capture, compliance, and reporting
